The University of California, Berkeley is an institution that excels at conducting research in a broad range of diverse and impactful topics as well as educating the next generation of practitioners. The Berkeley Center for Green Chemistry in the College of Chemistry and the Laboratory for Manufacturing and Sustainability in the College of Engineering, are two of the primary groups investigating the practical implementation of the circular economy in design and manufacturing of products, services, and systems.

For the 2016 Disruptive Innovation Festival, UC Berkeley will host a series of videos and discussions on "The Role of Green Chemistry in Circular Economy Supply Chains." The series will cover how to view supply chains as a system, the importance of decision making, and the key role that materials play in enabling the circular economy.
