What can emerging local and global practices teach us about the future of making? Pioneers within the field of sustainable design from South East Asia will offer a glimpse into local innovation around new materials and practices that show it is possible to envision a positive future, through a film shot on the ground in the region. The film participants will offer insight into some of the sociocultural nuances and environmental challenges facing both the local communities and wider region.
This film marks the start of a new line of investigation into the future of making, materiality and sustainability by the British Council. The films speakers will also be part of a pilot at the end of 2018 which will see a group of creative practitioners from South East Asia meet for an incubation week in the UK.
