This session is part of DIF x CE100 Startup Day. A day devoted to showcasing startups and their role in disrupting the market and enabling a shift towards a circular economy.
Coffee is an ubiquitous beverage, consumed in huge quantities in households and offices across the globe. But what happens to the used grounds after we've enjoyed our drink? More often than not, they are thrown in the bin.
Kaffe Bueno is an award winning startup transforming perceptions about what is possible with coffee waste. Using biotechnology innovation, they transform used grounds into valuable and vital ingredients for cosmetics, nutraceuticals and even functional foods.
How do they do it? Join this session to find out.
The three founders of Kaffe Bueno grew up in Colombia, hence their close relation to the coffee industry and the people and nature behind it.Passionate about changing people's perception of coffee, from looking at it as a tool to stay awake, to look at it as a tool to improve humans and nature's health. How? By valorising what has been historically treated as waste, spent coffee grounds; and make people realise this is actually a resource.
He has an international business background, specialised in global management and marketing. He worked in the British & Colombian Chamber of Commerce in London, building working agendas between public and private sector entities from UK and LatAm. In Kaffe Bueno, he's the commercial guy, with a deep understanding of the different markets Kaffe Bueno taps into; personal care, nutraceuticals and functional foods.
Camilo also has an international business background, specialised in finance and accounting. He also worked with Alejandro in the British & Colombian Chamber of Commerce, on the finance side. In Kaffe Bueno, he's the finance guy, making sure all operations are cost-efficient, forecasts accurate, and guaranteeing sustainability throughout our supply chain.
Juan also has an international business background, specialised in finance and accounting (the three founders did their bachelors together, that's where it all started). He worked as an analyst in strategy consultancy in London. In Kaffe Bueno, he's the innovation guy, continuously researching and looking into the different ways bioactive compounds inside coffee's waste can be used for health purposes.
